 Welcome to spring Riverview

The snow is gone (well, at least for a while) and spring activities are getting underway.  Cochrane Helping Hands spring food drive is scheduled for the morning of April 23             and RCA volunteers will help out, going door to door for pick-up.

You can help Cochrane residents who need that helping hand by leaving your food drive contribution on your door stoop or at your garage door .......... we'll take it from there.

Helping Hands will be releasing a list of preferred items closer to the food drive.

If you would like to volunteer, contact us at: riverviewcommunityassociation@gmail.com

The Board of the Riverview Community Association has formed a Communications Committee with the goal of broadening our community outreach by utilizing various social media avenues.

TO HELP US WITH THIS,  WE NEED A SOCIAL MEDIA VOLUNTEER.

We're looking for a community service minded individual with digital communications skills that can assist us with the development and upkeep of our community social media platforms.

If adding volunteer hours to your resume is a goal, this could be your opportunity!  We anticipate a reasonable time commitment, and we're a fun group to work with.

Please consider joining us in making our Community a better place to live.

 RCA 2022 Membership Drive

As our last blog noted, the Riverview Community Association Board went door-to-door earlier this month distributing flyers for new and renewed memberships.  We had quite a few interesting conversations relating to the progress on the golf course legal fight, the proposed wave park, and the general goings on in Riverivew.

Just in case your flyer was misplaced, or you want to pass it onto your neighbour, we've provided it below ............... it really is the best $20 you'll spend this year

 Welcome to 2022 Riverview

After the long cold snap we endured in December and early January, we can only hope that the balance of our winter is gentler and punctuated with many chinooks.

With the new year comes renewal.  Many of us have made new year's resolutions,  or committed to a dry January or are just endeavoring to make some personal changes (hopefully for the better).

Your Riverview Community Association (RCA) Board has also been examining renewal, but on a community wide scale.

RCA membership drive

 January 15 - 31, 2022

We will soon be reaching out to Riverview residents, going door-to-door distributing flyers for the renewal of memberships and encouraging others to join our Association.

Membership with the RCA will keep you up-to-date on the current community developments such as the proposed redevelopment of the golf course, the proposed wave park on the Bow and the Greystone development.  On top of that membership will keep you informed of our RCA organized activities.

It's the best $20 you'll spend this year.

 Happy Summer Riverview Residents

Well, it's now August and a good time for some house / garage cleaning.  Time for all those  items that you have been hanging onto to find a new home.

To help you with finding new homes for those items, the Riverview Community Association has organized a

Community Garage Sale

 Saturday August 21, between 10:00 - 4:00

All you need to do is set up your items for sale on your driveway, tag each item with a price (be reasonable) and wait for the crowd.  You may find that garage sales are as much a social event as they are a sales event so be prepared for visiting with neighbours.

Let the house / garage cleaning begin!

Welcome to Summer (again) Riverview

Our RCA's 2nd Annual Canada Day Mini-Golf Tournament was a GREAT success.

Our mini-golf tournament had wonderful weather (in fact so wonderful that we rescheduled the tournament to 10:00 so we could play during the cooler morning).  We had 18 teams entered, many of which were families with younger children which made for some interesting interpretations of the rules.  For most of the younger participants use of putters was optional, carrying the ball to the cup was acceptable (and much faster).

It takes a number of talented people to successfully organize a tournament.   Many thanks to:

Sherry Hufnagel for her overall organization of the tournament and coordination with the Cochrane Golf club.

Jennifer Foy for helping out Sherry and tying up loose ends.

Brad Walz, the club pro at the Cochrane Golf Club who worked closely with Sherry.

Tim Hall at Lucky Penny who provided our post game hot dogs.

Everyone had a wonderful time, and we have the photos to show it. Expect to see another mini-golf tournament in 2022.
